"Pain is temporary, but a memory lasts a lifetime"

Here's an interesting article

Coast Guard Elite Athlete Of The Year

With perfect weather all year around in Hawaii it's time to get back to my hobby! Some of you may know that my healthy lifestyle started out as a triathlete back in 1992. My good friend Greg got me to sign up for a triathlon. I never knew what I was getting myself into. Little did I know when I first jumped in a pool and "Doggie Paddled" to the other end. During the triathlon I nearly drowned! Thanks to Greg my new multi-sport life started.

After several years of training was able to get faster and faster. Some of my career / goals have been met. Thanks to all my training partners, family, friends and understanding employers! LOL! These are just a few of my accomplishments

  • Career Highlights:
  • 1994 Ironman Maui
  • 1996 Ironman World Championships, Kona Hawaii
  • 1999 Coast Guard Elite Athlete of the Year
  • 1999 3,000 mile Race Across America, Team Coast Guard
  • 2001 Ironman New Zealand
  • 2001 America By Bicycle
  • 2002 Virginia State Time Trial Champion, Silver
  • 2002 Mid Atlantic Duathlon Series 3rd in Series
  • 2002 Lum's Pond Duathlon Winner

Thousands of miles and sore muscles, I would never trade it for the world! They may not be made out of gold but they sure mean more to me than that! I'm living proof that you can do anything with hard work and determination! Someone once told me when the hardest portion of the Ironman came.

  2. Hey I remember when you first started triathlons. I would have never thought you would have accomplished so much.

  3. Dude-

Hey, you left out the part about the 4 or 5 years you spent in Virginia getting fat and drinking beer.

Where are all those NASCAR model cars or have you sold them all on EBAY yet?

Just kidding! Glad to see you're back in shape again.

    ;-)
