YOU CALL THIS WORK?

Yes, sometimes work got in the way of these cool places! The mission was to teach other countries about tactics used in Maritime Law Enforcement. As an instructor we covered everything from International law, boarding a vessel, tactical procedures and my favorite... Kicks, punches, stuns and take downs! Nothing like role playing as the bad guy and getting paid to get beat up or beat someone else up! It may sound sick but it was fun!

One of the best agencies overseas was the "Brigad Fiscal" or better known in Portugal as the "GNR".
Tim a retired Coastie, works for the International Maritime Officers Course in Yorktown, Virginia. Along that he is also a Gloucester County Sheriff on the SWAT Team. I was lucky to have Tim train me before I became an instructor. Tim is still one of the best MLE Instructors out there.

He's hard on you but there is a reason for keeping you alive.
The Maritime Law Enforcement Academy was located in Yorktown, Virginia prior to them relocation to Charleston, South Carolina. 5 weeks of INTENSE TRAINING is all I can say. Coupled with academics and physical fitness this is one of the toughest courses in the United States Coast Guard. I was the first Aviator to graduate from this school which is mainly for the ship community.
