RECOVER FAST BUDDY!

Today's lunchtime ride ended in a bit of confusion. The very last part of the ride the front riders normally sprint for the 2 speed limit signs. Today we had a big bunch sprint and one of our riders Jake crossed wheels with another rider doing 35mph. Jake went down pretty hard and tore himself up pretty darn good. It look like his collar bone was broken but I hope for the less.

He was taken off in an ambulance to Tripler Army Medical. My recommendation: a group sprint is always dangerous and the importance of holding your line as well into turns. Follow the wheel in front of you and try not to make any sudden moves. I have raced on the east coast with 90+ riders in a criterium. 99% of the time a rider will go down if he overlaps the wheel in front. Rule of thumb: "when in doubt, pull out" better to lose some spots then to crash. It's a lunchtime ride guys! Jake we all hope for a speedy recovery buddy...
