SPECIALIZED TARMAC - THE FORCE IS STRONG

Finally got a chance to take the Specialized Tarmac out. It's been hanging up and hasn't got much use since I got the Litespeed Siena. This bike has a different weave pattern then normal carbon frames. I was trying to save some dollars so this one is outfitted with campy carbon chorus.
Cranks are FSA carbon and came with a gold / yellow design which matches the frame. Alien carbon seat post and SLR seat. The brakeset is made by Cane Creek and are titanium. I threw on the Reynolds Carbon Attacks which are about 1350 grams a set.

The Tarmac has some really cool features. The top tube is kind of square and zert inserts are located on the fork and rear stays for better dampening. The Tantalus uphill time trial is next weekend but I have decided not to race it this year. 2 weeks after that is the Hawaii State Team Time Trial (4 man team) race. Last year I rode with Darryl Perry and had a great time. I just hope that this year will be as much fun. Casey broke his wrist yesterday after getting tangled up with another rider at the stop light during our lunchtime rides. I hope he's doing better as I have not heard from him since then. Usually he calls but due to several circumstances I think things have changed. Recover well...

Today I got a call from my old cycling buddy Atomman Kimm. He was in the neighborhood and invited me to join him over at Bandito's Mexican Restaurant. We talked about a lot of things and even a cycling trip over to Kauai with Tradewinds and HACC. We started talking about new frames and he got me thinking about buying a new time trial frame. Specialized came out with a pretty sick looking aero frame. I think I may head down to the Bike Shop tomorrow and test ride one. I really like the blue and white paint scheme as it would also math my Zipp 808's. Damn... I got bike fever again! What do youguys think?

  1. Hmm, stick with the Cervelo! I don't know why you'd want that Specialized. Well, they look different and I've not seen one on O'ahu yet, but well... if it floats you boat =) ... I'd like to see wind tunnel comparrison between that and a P2 or P3C or TTX... I have a feeling that it's not quite as fast as all the marketing hype.

  2. Why not? It's not like you have any bikes - you seem to really like cycling. Seems like you should have some bikes to go with that passion.
