NEW FRAME - DEV LAWN INTERVALS - CASEY STILL HURTS

Its been a crazy week but had plenty of time to hang out with friends and family! Thursday I won a lunch deal for 9 of my friends and invited some HACCer's and family members. It was great lunch at Sam Choys! Then on Friday night I met up with the Steele's who had his parents visiting. We grabbed a beer over the Seabreeze and laughed quite a bit! Saturday morning I slept in until 0700. It's been over 12 years since I woke up that late.

I called Casey and asked if he wanted to ride. He had his cast removed yesterday so this would be the test if he was racing Tantalus tomorrow. We got on our second loop on Hickam and he said his wrist still hurts. I knew it would as 10 days isn't quite a healing process for a cracked wrist. I think he is giving up on tomorrows race. On our second loop thru housing we saw Dev doing intervals with a lawn mower in his front yard. He looked like he needed a break so I stopped to chat. Jeff and Dev just ran the Ford Island Bridge run and he said he was a little stiff. On my 3rd loop I caught up with Jon "Style Man" Sanner. We chatted for a bit and rode an easy loop together. It was great seeing friends outdoors this week. When your cooped up in an office all week it sure feels great to get out.

Last night I was thinking about my Specialized Allez "rainy day" bike. I am waiting for my Campy cable kit so I can complete assembly. Then I get an email from Greg Layton about a Specialized Carbon Roubaix. Its my size and I drove out to look at it. So since I have a rainy day bike, I needed a sunny day bike. Yes, I just purchased a new frame set. For those reading this... Yes I need help, intervention, maybe a divine intervention. I'm sick!

  1. Ben,
Could you please add me to your Christmas list? I could really use some rainy day bike parts, frames,or any other cycling items that you have just laying around :-) The lawn intervals sucked, would have much rather been on the bike, however they did help with the stiffness. When I got out of Jeff's car I could barely walk. I've thought about my next bike being a build from the frame up. Do you think that it can be more economical doing it this way? One thing that I would like is being able to pick my own components.
