With the Hawaii State Individual 40K Time Trial in a few weeks, training seems to be right on track. The last several weeks several of us have been training specifically for the race. I have noticed that Jeff and Dev's speed has greatly improved. This weekend I plan to take us to the secret spot for more intense training.
Long threshold intervals. 2-3x10-20 minute intervals in heart rate zones 4-5a or FT power. 10-minute recovery between efforts. Comfortable cadence, aero position. Reduce recovery to 5 minutes after completing a progression. Next weekend I plan on doing Anaerobic-endurance intervals and do a simulated 40k practice.

Today Ironman the movie came out and I plan on catch it tomorrow. For those born in the 60's, Ironman was a cartoon and superhero in the 70's. I had all the comic books and action figures! "I am Ironman"!

Dang! I thought people were joking when they said you did Ironman! Did you really have a killer bike split?
ReplyDeleteBig Poppa!
ReplyDelete"I love it when you call me big poppa"! Your answer to your question is yes! I managed to ride a 5:18:30 for 112 miles at Ironman New Zealand. I was much younger then! LOL!
