MARATHON TRAINING IS HARD WORK - GOING BACK TO VIRGINIA MENTALLY

With the Honolulu Marathon 5 weeks away, I'm on my 2nd week of training. Not the optimum way to run a marathon but enough training to finish this year which is my goal. Had a pretty good week of running about 30 miles. This past weekend I ran for 2 hours which took me close to 13 miles. With a couple of short runs before work I am feeling pretty good for not trained for a marathon distance in 7 years. Training for a marathon in 5-6 weeks is tough!

Goal this week is to run 25-30 miles and a 15 or a 2.5 hour run. I'm still trying to talk some of my cycling buds to do this with me. They know who they are so no need to mention names (DA)! I miss the days of running in the fall through the battlefields of Yorktown, Virginia where I lived since 2001-2006.View from my old back window! What a way to start a day by sitting down looking at this and having a cup of coffee. Most times watching the deer looking for food. The cycling was amazing on the Colonial Parkway!

This is Yorktown, Virginia Main Street which I lived about 2 min walk from here. It's a small town with little shops. During the summer the place is crawling with tourist to see the Colonial Days. My retirement is in view, 3 years from now and I plan on going back to Virginia.
